PROJECT „STRUCTURE-ORGANIZATIONAL STRENGTHENING, MARKETING DEVELOPMENT AND ESTABLISHMENT OF EDUCATIONAL, RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION STRUCTURES (MECHATRONICS)“



Mechatronics and automation are vast fields of science and industry, which create mechatronic products, systems and services based on pooling of mechanical, electronic and software products and modules. Following this specificity, the industrial cluster „Mechatronics and Automation“ besides leading companies in the sector, involves also research structures from BAS and TU Sofia and NGOs.

PROJECT „INSTITUTIONAL, BUSINESS AND EDUCATIONAL INTEGRATION IN THE AREA OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES AND MECHATRONICS (ATM)“



Project Description
The project envisaged and achieved the following results:

- Organization of three different events in Serbia and Bulgaria (Launch Conference, Press conference and Final conference);

- 130 companies, scientific-technological and business organizations were visited. The gathered information about the needs of the reviewed companies was used to determine: Training subjects, third markets and selection of profiles;

- Establishment of a Cross-border Expert Council with members from both countries. The Expert Council provides support to strengthen the competitiveness and market potential of the visited companies that have the capacity for internationalization;

- Organization of corporate trips, brokerage, and two trainings in Serbia and Bulgaria;

- The Expert Council analyzed the results of the study on supply and demand of business cooperation and business support. Based on that analysis and taking into account the specificities and characteristics of the visited companies and assessment visits, the Expert Council defined as perspective for both countries the markets in Russia and Germany;

- Creation of a project website: bulgaria2serbiacluster.net

- Releasing of a catalog of over one hundred companies from Bulgaria and Serbia that besides contact data also includes a brief notation on the types of activities that firms undertake.

The project was successfully completed in January 2014.

PROJECT „INNOVATION CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE, DEVELOPMENT AND TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGIES“ IN MICRO ELECTROMECHANICAL SYSTEMS (MEMS) AND ENERGY RECOOPERATION

Contract № D00-106-5 / 12.2008 headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Todorov between NIS (Scientific and research sector) at TU and the Innovation and the Science Fund of Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria. In the frames of this project was built the laboratory „CAD, CAM, CAE in the industry“ and the laboratory received the prize „IKARUS“ given by BIA.

PROJECT „REENGINEERING OF INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSAL ROBOTS (RUR)“ - 2014-2017

Reengineering is a rational modernization of an existing, but for one reason or another, non-competitive product and redirect it to another effective application.

Industrial research and experimental development project in the frames of RUR create methodologies for modernization of the mechanical design, hardware and software of the existing universal robots for the effective application in other areas. This approach is environmentally friendly, saves energy and allows separate usable components or whole industrial products to be reused after careful inspection and purposeful modernization through the use of innovative engineering solutions.

PROJECT „SYNTHESIS OF MECHATRONIC AUTOMATED SYSTEM FOR METAL (SiMAM)“ - 2012-2014

In general the types of metal are divided into two groups - „hot“ metal processing (casting, forging, semi-stamping, etc.) and „cold“ processing of metals (mainly through cutting, milling, turning, grinding and others.).

In precise engineering and instrumentation vital to the treatment of details is the cold metal cutting. When it comes to large series and requirements for high accuracy and repeatability, is preferably to use CNC machine tools.

Regardless their high-performance CNC machine tools require still peripherals (manipulators, robots, conveyors, etc.) to automate the auxiliary services such as operations of the „take-set“; transport“; „quality control“; „separating the defective outcome into repairable and incorrigible“ and others. The synthesis of all these peripheral devices and their inclusion to CNC machines for metalworking will lead to a reduction of auxiliary (non-working hours) of CNC machines and hence to increase the productivity and quality of products.

The aim of the project is: optimal approach and configuration of the robotic cell for the automation of metalworking processes using CNC machines, and create a base reprogramming system for metal treatment with a high degree of automation, determining a high performance, sustainable quality and an energy and material usage reducement.

PROJECT „DISTRIBUTED INFORMATION SYSTEM OF GROUP CONTROL, REMOTE DIAGNOSTICS AND SERVICING OF SPECIALIZED INDUSTRIAL ROBOTS (IKSROB)“ - 2012-2014

Specialized industrial robots are widely used to service large and complex machines. They perform various support functions - charging raw materials and blanks, taking the finished parts out, cleaning the machine forms, control and transport and others. Main requirements are accuracy, repeatability and fast work, on order to avoid unnecessarily stops of the complex and expensive machine, embodying the basic technology work flow.

Often is needed the attach several service robots to a large machine for various relief operations. Then the synchronization between them during the production cycle of the machine is necessary. The spread of such machines and the accompanying specialized robots in global markets raises the need for these complexes to be monitored, diagnosed and serviced both locally and remotely.

The idea is to carry out industrial research for developing of a group control of several specialized industrial robots in one technological cell (for one machine), the performance and parameters of robots and machine can be monitored and archived remotely (from local or global center), performed periodic remote diagnostics can be performed and, if necessary, it makes possible to remotely indicate or carry out different kinds of servicing procedures.

PROJECT „SPECIALIZED ROBOTS FOR AUTOMATION IN THE FOUNDRY INDUSTRY“ - 2008-2010

Process automation in the machine casting is a very important topic in the modern instrumentation and tooling production. This is due to the extremely difficult operating conditions in the foundry industry (high temperature, dust and humidity) and additionally to the high pace of development of the automotive, electrical, IT, consumer industries that are major consumers of aluminum alloy castings.

The main task of the project was the design, development and testing of two new types of specialized robots - respectively one for extraction and control of castings (CP1) and one for preparation of the molds for subsequent operation (CD2). Design and development of these specialized robots in combination with a specialized foundry metal dosing robot (developed under contract № IF-02-11 / 24.10.2005 between ASME and „SPESIMA“ Ltd. on „mechatronic approach to the research, design and manufacture of a specialized aggregate-modular robot“) practically led to full automation of the engine casting of aluminum alloys.

Automating these operations has not only a social impact. It also leads to increased productivity and substantially reduce waste.

PROJECT „MECHATRONIC APPROACH IN THE RESEARCH, DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A SPECIALIZED AGGREGATE-MODULAR ROBOT“ - 2005-2007

The main task of the project is to explore the possibilities of designing and developing a specialized robot for filling and transferring of liquids, in particular for feeding with molten aluminum alloys of horizontal and vertical casting machines, as well as chill casting.

By solving this problem it is intended not only to release the worker from heavy, repetitive operations, which are needed because of the working cycle of the casting machine, but also to increase the productivity and the quality of castings at a substantial reduction of disposal.
